Our Story

Every movement begins with a burden. For HMBC, it was the burden to see God’s Word taken seriously—taught with clarity, lived with integrity, and carried into every corner of life.

In the late 20th century, believers across Asia were awakening to the need for deeper discipleship. Many were eager to follow Christ but lacked grounding in Scripture and training for service. Out of this need grew a vision: a community devoted to equipping men and women with both knowledge and character, preparing them to live as Christ’s witnesses in every place God would send them.

HMBC was never about one personality or tradition. It began as a fellowship of ordinary believers who dared to believe that when the Bible is opened and lives are shaped by it, whole communities can be transformed. The conviction was simple yet transformative: every follower of Jesus can be trained, discipled, and sent—whether into the workplace, the neighborhood, or the nations.

In the Beginning

From its earliest days, HMBC set itself apart by being intentionally non-denominational and rooted in the Word. Teachers were chosen for both their faithfulness to Scripture and the integrity of their lives. Learners gathered not merely to accumulate knowledge, but to be changed—equipped for works of service, whether in ministry, missions, or the marketplace.

Today and Beyond

Today, HMBC continues to embody that founding vision: to raise up kingdom-minded people, formed by the Word and filled with Christ’s character, who will make an impact for the gospel wherever they go.

From Seed to Movement

What began as a small response to a pressing need has grown into a lasting movement of discipleship that stands on the unshakable foundation: the Word of God and the call of Christ to make Him known.
